Vela Ramamoorthy
He is a PUC Graduate. He joined the Indian Army and served for five years. Then he was posted in Post office. Since he is a writer, many people would come to meet him in his office. “I used to spend half of my salary in the tea shops.” He remembers in an interview with Pudhiya Thalamurai Tamil magazine. Vela Ramamoorthy has written acclaimed Tamil novels including Kuttra Parambarai, Kuruthi Aattam, Pattathu Yaanai and is considered one of the leading Tamil story writers of his time.[1] He was also involved in the dispute regarding the rights of making a film out of Kuttra Parambarai and had supported Bala’s project ahead of Bharathiraja’s.[2] He has also written the book Vela Ramamoorthy Kathaikal which is a compilation of short stories.
The acclaimed writer and actor has earlier impressed with his negative roles in movies like Sethupathi (2016) and Kidaari (2016).[3]
He has also played different characters in famous movies like Komban (2015), Rajini Murugan (2016), Appa (2016), Yeidhavan (2017), Vanamagan (2017), Thondan (2017) and Aramm (2017).[4]
He has an interesting line up of films, which includes, Sketch (2018) and Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019).[5] Ramamoorthy had also appeared in Selvaraghavan’s NGK (2019) but his role was forgettable with no dialogues that he couldn’t contribute much to the political action drama.
